COURSE
DESCRIPTION
This level is an intermediate course which
reinforces the students communications skills by means of using conversation
strategies, as well as by enhancing their listening/pronunciation, speaking,
reading, and writing skills. The
students will also improve their grammar and vocabulary.
Assisted Teaching:
Students will improve skills on Reading, Writing, Speaking, Grammar and Listening through the use of the level materials, they will get the ability to use a variety of multi-media and technical resources, this will help the students to understand texts in English as well as articles.
Collaborative Teaching:
Group work will be organized in class to analyze and discuss a specific topic of each unit. This group work will help the student´s to better understand the contents, the vocabulary, grammar exercises, readings from the book or from other sources.
Application Tasks:
The students will complete the reading, listening, speaking and writing exercises that are part of the units, which will enable them to enhance their language knowledge, as well as their skills improvement
Autonomous Work:
The students will be asked to do extra homework and to autonomously research and develop some topics at an academic level, which will help them to be better prepared to successfully fulfill the requirements of the level.

Generic:

The students will be able to
communicate in English with diverse speakers.
The students will be enabled by an emphasis on cultural fluency to interchange
information about difference situations that they will encounter in their
lives.
Specific:

The students will be able to exchange opinions about the treatment of
animals, discuss the benefits of certain pets, compare animal characters and debate
the value of animal conservation.
·
The students will be able to give shopping advice, discuss reactions to
ads, persuade someone to buy a product and describe consumer shopping habits.
·
The student will be able to describe family trends, discuss parent-teen
issues, compare generations and describe care for the elderly.
·
The students will be able to speculate about the out-of-the-ordinary,
present a theory about a past event, discuss how believable a story is and
evaluate the trustworthiness of news sources.
·
The student will be able to explain the benefits of leisure activities,
describe hobbies and other interests, compare your use of leisure time and
discuss the risk-taking personality.
COMPETENT ELEMENTS
The student will be able to read an article
and answer comprehension questions about it; he will be able as well to listen
to a dialogue, understand it, answer questions about it and use their own
information to have a conversation about the specific topic. The student will also be able to do grammar
and vocabulary exercises and to write about the specific topic.
FINAL LEARNING RESULTS
To make an oral presentation about the
specific topic, using the studied vocabulary and grammar and to effectively
communicate the information. At the same
time, to write a paper about the specific topic in which grammar, spelling and
vocabulary will be practiced.
